February 23, 2010

Sorry for not emailing yesterday but we had interviews so we did them today. Hey family how is the good old life? Life here has never been better. Well, to answer some questions, Brussels is still in our mission. The only thing that changed was that Paris is now in our mission and Netherlands is not. We also have a new mission president.

Well, this week was great. Thursday we had a huge work day with the whole zone. We worked with other companions for the day. I went with an Elder Benito and Elder Simonson, who is the Assistant to the President.

Hey, I have to go. I will finish this letter later. They just said it was closing in about 5 minutes so we can eat, so hopefully I will get to come back and finish. I love you all so much and hope you have a great day.

Hey, on March 1st we change mission homes because of the mission change and here is the new address:

Paris France Mission
Elder Christopher walker
23, rue du 11 Novembre
78110 le Vésinet
France

Also, I will be getting a new e-mail address soon because we have to switch e-mails. I just wanted you to know that. I love you all! bye

Hey, how is everybody doing? I hope it is going great. Well, I got some news this week. The Belgium Brussels Netherlands mission has changed and all the French speaking missionaries are now part of the PARIS FRANCE MISSION. It is cool and sad at the same time. Cool, because I get to go to Paris and now serve in France, but the sad part is President Brubacker is not our mission president anymore. He is the president of the Netherlands now. Our new president is President Stalhey. He was president Brubackers mission president in the field. Oh and no more temple trip for us. So that was big news and the change happens March 1st. I was pretty sad to find out we have to change presidents but it is what the lord wants. There is a reason why we are changing. We just have to find it or we may not find it but, oh well, it is what the lord wants.

Well, besides that everything else is going great. Last Saturday had to be the best day of the mission. I went on an exchange with the zone leaders and it was great. The whole day I was with Elder Cabrara and he taught me a lot. I also contacted a person all by myself in French and I got a guys number. I was so happy (wow I sound like a little kid) but, oh well, it was great contacting someone in French. But I can tell you now I was scared out of my wits.

That was a cool day. Then this week we were kinda boafy (lazy). We had all of our appointments this one day canceled so we did some weekly planning and found something else to do.

The weather here is cold but it’s the humidity that really kills it for me. Its gets cold but I stay warm so that is good.

So that was my big news this week with the mission changing. Belgium will still be in our mission but it will be a part of the Paris mission now. So you don’t have to worry your little heads, I am still a Belgium missionary. All that changed was we lost the Netherlands and got more of France. So, I still can serve in all the same places as before but now they just added more to it like Paris and all the areas around it, so it’s cool.

Well, I love you all and hope you had a great Valentine’s day or Single Awareness Day for us missionaries. I love you all and hope you will have a great week and I will talk to you later.

LOVE ELDER WALKER

Boys Will Always Be Boys

No matter where you send a boy, he will still be a boy. Here are some photos of what these boys would do while they were in the MTC. I know that while doing half of these things they were breaking the rules. They never did get caught. At least we know they were having fun while doing them.

Life in the MTC - Photo's

Here are some of the photos that Chris sent home ffrom when he was in the MTC. It is fun to see who he is with and what he did while was there.

Hey, how is every one doing? I hope everything is going great. Well, this week has been great. Last Sunday one of our amis de l’église (investigators) or friends of the church, Luciano, came to church. He was talking to me about baptism and when are people ready to be baptized. Then we taught him on Tuesday and asked him if he will be baptized and he said yes! It was great! I was so excited for him. Then on Wednesday we were going to meet one of our investigators that are listed in our area book, but he didn't show. I also had the worst hamburger in my entire life, it was pretty bad.

Thursday came and we went to a member’s house to give her the sacrament. It was going to be the first time I would have given it in French, but she said someone else came by and gave it to her. It was still good. Then we went to go teach Luciano, but we had a member come so Elder Caywood and our Elders quorum president taught Luciano. Elder Mitchell and I went to go do some contacting, it was great. On Friday, well that was a day we had two dinner appointments. Well, one of them was for lunch. So, we went and they were both members so that was good. The one for lunch was good but we were there for way to long. We were there for 3 hours. The lady was also making fun of me because I couldn't speak French well. She was just joking around but it sucked. Then we went to another house for dinner and her name is Soeur Grand Fils. She is like the grandmother of all the missionaries. It was great, she was way nice.

Saturday we did our weekly planning and then we did a concentrated hour contacting people. After we saw one of our amie de l'église and taught him the Gospel or lesson 3 in PMG. That was our day.

Sunday, the first fast Sunday in the mission field was great. We went to church and had a great testimony meeting. Then we came back and made some calls. We then had our DMP meeting with the ward mission leader, so that was great. We talked about how the mission work is going. Then we went to our other amis de l'église and that was interesting. They started getting into a fight and they were speaking Spanish and French and my head was hurting pretty bad at that moment, but it was good.

Then we came home. He lives far away and we have to take a train to go and see him, so we had a long ride back. So that was my week.

Well the field is great. It is kinda cold here. Just the humidity makes it way worse. Belgium is awesome though and I am glad to be here. It is going to be a great mission. Thank you so much. I love you all.

P.S. I already have holes in the bottom of my shoe. It has a big crack but don’t worry they will still last a long time.

I am going to apologize right know. This letter is going to
be really short. Because the computer erased all that I had
written so now I don't have anything and I don't have much
time. I will write a letter that talks about my week. Well,
life here is good. To tell you what we do, we do things
called concentrated hours where we go out for an hour and
contact people then we go to appointments with investigators.
Sometimes we do more than one concentrated hour in a day.
We will also go and do some metro contacting on the
metro(train). We haven’t gone door to door yet but we may
in the future. We also ask people for people or friends who
might be interested in our message. Sorry for being so
short I love you all so much and thanks for your support.
I will make sure to send you a letter on all the things we
did this past week.

Love Elder Walker
