Merry Christmas

MERRY CHRISTMAS FAMILY. I hope you are all having a Merry Christmas. This Christmas is a little weird not being at home, but it is also very great. On Tuesday night we had Elder Andersen of the 12 come and talk to us. Then today we had Elder L. Tom Perry of the 12 come and speak to us. I feel so blessed because I have had the chance to hear 4 apostles of the lord come and speak to us. Well today is great! First we woke up and went straight to laundry, then we went to wait in line for the morning devotional. We were waiting at 8:00am and the devotional didn't start till 10:00am. It was fun though. Then we had our Christmas dinner(lunch). Then we made sack lunches(dinners) for dinner. Then I am here right now e-mailing you.

This week has been great. On Wednesday I taught the first lesson in french. That made me so happy that I could do that! I tried earlier in the day for practice and I couldn't do it. But when we had to teach in the TRC I was able to speak and they understood me. I was so happy!

What was also good was the fireside we had last night for Christmas Eve. We had some great music, talks and stories. It was great, but the best part was the 12 days of Christmas song MTC style. It went like this.......On the (1st)day of Christmas the MTC gave to me... 1) a rock solid testimony. 2) two free haircuts 3) three new companions 4)four chocolate milks 5) five hours of gym 6) six thirty (6:30) wake up 7) seven luke warm showers 8) eight hours of rest 9) nine outbound calls 10) ten new commandments 11) eleven loads of laundry 12) hours of class. It was a great and funny song. So that fireside was the best, it was great. I am just having a great time in the MTC. I can't believe it will be six weeks on Tuesday, time has just flown by.

Well, I hope you all are having a merry Christmas. I hope you will all remember family and the true meaning of Christmas. I love you all so much and thank you for your letters and presents. They brought me great happiness. I hope you have a merry Christmas and a happy new year. LOVE ELDER WALKER

December 18, 2009

Hey family how is the good old life? Life here is going great. We have been here for one month already today. We are going on our week 5. Time here just fly's by. I can't believe I have already been here for a month. Well not much has happen this week just the same old same old.
On Sunday it was the best. We had a fireside or devotional, I don't know what it is called. We had the BYU mens choir come and sing to us. It was pretty cool because they sang some of the songs I sang in choir, it was way cool. Then on Wed. we had to teach at the TRC where we just practice teaching with people who pretend to be investigators. This was the last week that we got to teach in English. Next week we have to teach in French. So I hope it goes well.
On Thursday We had the chance to teach the 2nd lesson to our progressing investigator. It was awesome! He accepted and wants to meet us again. We also had the chance to go the RC. We get to chat with people, call them and accept calls from them. Just to let you guys know I got NO chats NO calls and NO outgoing calls, it was sad. But, oh well, there is always next week. Hey, Christmas is next week. It is so weird to think that this year has gone by so fast. Life is going good.
The French is coming along. I used to think it was a beautiful language until I really started learning it. I now hate the French language, but I am sure when I get the language down I will eventually love it once more but right now no. But the French is coming along I know a lot more know then I did when I got here.
Besides that the MTC is just the same old same old, waking up, read the BOM, then go to breakfast, then study till lunch, then our teacher Fére(brother)
Thompson comes and teaches us till dinner, then after our teacher Fére le Fréve comes and teaches us. We also have gym some where in there but that is my life in the MTC.
Good news, I finished the BOM yesterday. Now it's time to start all over again. Its good, I get to go to the temple today, so it is awesome.

Well, That is my life. I love you all and miss you so much, love Elder Walker

December 11, 2009

Hey fam. how is the life in the outside world? Life here is going well. The French is going good. I can say a lot but when it comes to understanding it ya just pack my bags I'm coming home. No its going good I can understand a lot more now then I did when I first got here.

So not much has happened this week. On Tuesday we had Elder Costa of the 70's come and speak to us. He was way funny. On Wednesday we did an English fast where we could only speak french. It was a long day, but it was fun. We are going to do it again on Saturday.

Great news they made me the district leader. So that is good news. I have to get mail, be in charge at meetings, ya so that's basically all I do, but it is fun.

Ya life here is good. It is funny, in gym we play four square all the time. I haven't played that game since elementary. Our zone is like the only one who plays it. I have to say it gets pretty in tense. We lost all of our older missionaries in our zone this week. So now our zone is pretty small. So I have a better chance of getting called on for a talk on Sunday.

We do these things called milestones where we have to teach something for 15 min. I was really happy with that this week because I actually taught a lesson in French - it was chouette. (the definition of chouette in English means TUBULAR ) ya so it was tubular you can say.

Ya so all in all things here are good. I am excited, we get to go to the temple today. It makes me happy. I found out as long as you are happy the MTC life is good. I can't believe I have been here for 23 days. We are going on week 4 here, only 5 more to go till I am out in the field.

So I found out that my preaching license, yes you have to have a license to preach about the gospel, exp 11/24/2011. Guess what day that is.................that's right it's Thanksgiving day. That is the day it exp.So it is cool. Life here is good so I am happy to be here. Thank you for all of you support and love. I love you guys so much. Talk to you later. TTFN ta ta for now.

Hey friends how is the life at home treating you? Life here is good. Hey I have to tell you this, I found an elder whose name was KING so his name is elder King it was pretty cool. You guys are going to love the MTC, the food is good. I can't wait till I can hear about your mission. Make sure to write. Love you guys

San Francisco

Here is Elder Walker's email from Friday. He sounds like he is having a blast.

The MTC life is great! This week was awesome. I got to go to San Francisco to get my French visa. We had to get up at 4:30 am. That sucked, but then we got to the airport we were supposed to leave around 8:30 but it was delayed and these two gentlemen came and bought all 10 of us cinnamon rolls. We talked to them and found out they were returned missionary's, it was way cool. Then we got on the plane and flew out there. When we got there we went the the French consolet to get our visas. OK you know how we are suppose to be honest in all our doings. Ya the church had us all lie to get our visas. We had to tell them we were solo missionary's, That we would only be serving in France and we were leaving Dec. 18, it was great. After we went to In-n-Out for lunch. After we went walking around town and there were so many people that were way excited to see us there. Just, hey it's the missionary's. It was great, we even tried contacting a couple of people. After all that we went back to the airport and while we where there the two gentlemen that gave us the cinnamon rolls where coming back to Salt Lake too, so we got to talk. Well we got back around 9 o'clock pm. It was just an awesome day.

Yesterday we got to go to the referal center. It was awesome we actually got to do some missionary work. We got to call people. They call us. We got to chat to them on line, bear our testimony's and teach them. It was a great experience.

Life here is great. I am so excited to get out in the field. I have had many great experiences here. On Sunday we went to the temple and took a ton of pictures. I will have to send them. I am excited, today we get to go to the temple. I can't wait to go. That is the thing I look forward to the most every week. I look forward to it!

I have been learning how to contact people in French. Its going great (not really I suck at it way bad) But I am taking a tutor to help me. But besides that I am learning the language. It seems way harder now then it did when I was at school. But I still love the language though.

So that is what's going on in my life. Thank you all for the e-mails and the letters. It really gives me strength and makes me want to push on. I love you all. Elder Walker
