August 9, 2010

Hey family and friends, how is everything going? I hope you all had a great week. For me this week was great. We got a mini Missionary in our companionship for 3 days. A mini missionary is someone who wants to see what the mission world is like before they go on a mission. They go some place and work with the missionaries in that area to see how everything works out. It was awesome. His name is Florent Demeyère and he is from Nivelles, Belgium. We thought he was going to come on the 18th of August, but he called us on Tuesday night and asked what he needed to bring for tomorrow or Wednesday, the next day. We were a little shocked but everything was fine. Wednesday morning we picked him up at the gare (train station) and started to show him what the missionary world is like. It went great. We did everything with him. We had appointments with amies, and with our baptism date, who is doing great. We worked with members and did service for a less active family where our mini cut his hand on a rose bush. It wasn’t his fault though. Elder Prunier and our mini where moving this cabinet and Elder Prunier kind of made him go right into the brush. It was a pretty bad cut, but oh well. We also did some contacting, had a meeting with our ward missionary leader, and to finish off the great 3 day mini mission we ate at a family members house. Then his parents came and picked him up at the house. It was a perfect ending to his mini mission.* I loved having a mini missionary with us. It was cool to show him how thing work and he told us he can’t wait to go on a mission of his own. It was awesome. I will up load a photo of him with this e-mail.

Well, yesterday was the day I had to give another talk in church. I talked on La charité et l'amour (charity and love). It went great! A lot better than the first talk I had to give. A lot of people said I did a good job and they were able to understand me and my message. So I am happy with that. I do know that the lord helped me a lot with it though. Oh ya, I just don’t get it. It is suppose to be vacation time and no one should have been there, but yesterday at church everyone was there; members; inactives, investigators (which is good), friends, everyone and their dog.........ok, maybe not their dog, but there were alot of people. But the talk was good and it went well.

It is pretty cool here in Belgium. They have a dialect of French called Wallon. It is an old language and a dying one also. Really only the old people know it. But we have this one investigator who loves speaking it and Elder Dungan and I are learning a little bit of it. It is pretty cool. It is very close to French but far away from French also. It is kind of an ugly language compared to French, but I love it.

Well, this upcoming Saturday I will find out about transfers because they our next Wednesday, the 18th of August. I will get to see if I am staying or not. I don’t think I will stay because next transfer is Elder Dungan’s last one. We have a lot of missionaries coming in so there will be a good chance I will leave and he will train. But, whatever happens I will be happy. I am here serving the lord and I will go where ever he wants me to go. I will miss this ward though. I love it here in Charleroi. This ward is awesome. The members and the work are awesome also. But Saturday I should find out and I will write a quick e-mail to tell you if I will be leaving or not.
Well, that is pretty much our week. Our investigator with the baptism date is doing great. He has diminish on the smoking alot but he still smokes a few, but he is doing much better. We also have another investigator that is doing great. We gave him a church tour and he loved it and we have an appointment with him on Wednesday, so that will be good. Well, that is my week. I love you and hope you will have a great week and a great time. Stay safe. I love you and am truly grateful for all that you do. I hope you will all have fun. LOVE YA
